A few days ago we got a little peek at a photo of Charlie Day, as Charlie Kelly, filming on a College campus in LA... and while the photo at first seemed like it was shared by a fan who ran into him, it now seems like this "fan" is connected to the set...and might have spoiled an episode title for us!
In a follow up photo, he shared a picture of a Director's Trailer, with the caption
""A Tale of Two Charlies" week comes to an end. We have fun out here!"
Based on the caption and the hashtags belonging to the post, I think we can pretty safely assume this is the name of the episode! And, looking back, this guy had shared a post a day earlier, showing signs that indicate Sunny was filming "off lot", and similarly tagging "twocharlies" as part of the post:
So, given the photos and the information, could this guy be the Director of the episode?
...Nope! It seems like Charlie Day is directing this episode (of course, fitting for the title), which would make this the very first episode of Sunny Charlie directs!!
(I will acknowledge that the claim that Charlie is Directing is interesting, given the post was made on March 13, a day we know 100% for certain Charlie Day was in Austin, Texas, however we also know Jimmi Simpson was on set of the Fox Lot on March 13, so it's likely "A Tale of Two Charlie's" filmed the days prior and packed up its on-location filming the same day the McPoyle brothers started filming their parts of the episode(s) they're involved in this Season!)
So, A TALE OF TWO CHARLIES, what the fuck? What are we thinking? I mean, two Charlies we've see before in Season 13's Clip Show episode, but given the college campus filming location and Sunny's nature.. well, my mind certainly goes to other places... Of course, they could be filming on a college campus for any reason... but an episode about two Charlie Kellys, in alternate timelines or universes, is certainly a much more interesting idea to me!
And it seems like, if we are trusting this guy is legit, he's most likely an actor playing a Charlie of some variety, at least based on an Instagram video he shared, in which he claimed Charlie agreed he was the "original Charlie Kelly" and a further Facebook comment he responded to:
So, is there another "Charlie Kelly" our Charlie Kelly meets, hence there being two? Or perhaps a guy who steals Charlie's name/life? (Or, even again, this being some alternate universe or version of our Charlie?)
There are a lot of possibilities here, clearly, and no matter what, I am incredibly excited to see Charlie Day direct an episode (if it's true!) (which I do think it is!)!!
