The WGA has blessed us again this Saturday by uploading not only the list of writers for each numerical episode, but the episode titles as well!
The names of the episodes are as follows:
![]() |
| It is impossible to link to the episode names source, however you can go to this link and type "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" into the search bar and sort by "Date Pub on Web" to see this list for yourself! |
And the episode writers are as follows:
The list of episodes were published all at once, and therefore sort in alphabetical order, so except for the episodes we have solid information on, the only way we're able to correctly match the episode # and writer to its title is by looking back on the behind the scenes information we got during filming to try and line up dates (unless they filmed out of order).
The easiest one we do have solid information for is Dennis and Dee Don't Get Rich, Episode 2, written by Charlie and Glenn, thanks to the redacted script Rob gave us for April Fools Day. Logically, then, Frank Marries a Corpse is likely Episode 1, written by Charlie, the lead-in to Dennis and Dee Don't Get Rich.
The other episode we do have a solid connection for is Episode 5, thanks to Rob's birthday video showing a fake non-alcoholic beer on the table while a slate denoting 1805 was also present. We also got a little sneak peek of filming outside of Paddy's, which showed the guys pouring out non-alcoholic beer, so The War on Alcohol is very likely 18-5, Dave and John Chernin's episode (which is fitting, given the Gang are definitely on the side of alcohol here).
After those three, I become less certain. Obviously we know the Ren Faire episode is The Gang Goes to the Ren Faire and the Little League episode is The Gang Buys a Baseball Team (lmfao at that title), but we do not have any markers to tell us who wrote those episodes other than assuming they were filmed in the order they're numbered. If that's the case, I am putting my money on these being Episodes 7 and 8, respectively (I also had my money on Rob Rosell writing the Little League ep, so I might be a little biased there).
Mac and Dennis Tear their ACLs is very interesting, as Mac and Dennis racing each other outside of Paddy's was another piece of BTS footage we got this year. This was theorized to be a Die Hard episode, based on Rob posting a graphic a few days later that seemed to tie in with Mac and Dennis wearing Christmas sweaters, but obviously there is no Die Hard episode title to be seen. Given that, I do still think the "Die Hard" episode could be Mac and Dennis Tear their ACLs, and given how early that was filmed, I'm assigning it as Episode 3, written by Charlie and Glenn. (Though, Mac and Dennis racing could also be The Gang Gets Tested, if the test is endurance-based of some kind.)
And speaking of missing episodes, A Tale of Two Charlies, the episode title we got from an alleged featured actor in an upcoming episode, is nowhere to be found. However, this is definitely an episode that exists, it just clearly isn't by that title (which could mean the title changed, it was just referred to by that name on set, or this guy just made it up). The episode filmed in mid-March at a College campus for a week, which based on the episode titles we have left I have no idea how to place. However, if filming at the college campus was for a college campus setting, this also could be The Gang Gets Tested, if the test is intelligence-based of some kind. (Or it could be related to The War on Alcohol, if the episode is about how college-aged kids aren't drinking as much anymore!)
Clearly The Gang Gets Tested is a hard one for me to place, as is 2026: a Virtual Insanity. That seems like it's the A.I. episode Charlie briefly mentioned, and the name is reminiscent to me of Charlie Rules the World in Season 8 (originally entitled "The Gang Goes Virtual), written by David Hornsby. Since we don't have a ton of information, I am settling with both of these episodes being Hornsby's (perhaps mostly based on vibes), with the latter being in conjunction with Biniam Bizuneh (one of the new, and younger, writers).
The other new (to Sunny) writer is Vanessa McGee, whose episode is with Rob Rosell (the two of them both worked on Dave together). Again, since we don't have much information, I am going to assign Gilligan's Island: a Conspiracy Theorists Paradise to the two of them based on vibes.
Finally, we have The Guys Have a Sleepover (which very much invokes Mac's Banging the Waitress in Season 4 for me). Obviously this episode would have been filmed on the closed set (unless they had a sleepover on a college campus!!), so it's pretty much impossible to pin down when it was filmed. I am just going to slot this one in at the end and give it to Charlie, Ross, and Rob (Rob's only episode!).
And that's all ten (10! which seems like a LOT now) episodes. In summary, the green is what I am certain on, the yellow is what I think is likely, and the white is, well, I pretty much have no clue but I want to put them somewhere:
(And as a reminder, the episodes are listed in production code order, not [technically] airing order!)
Looking back, maybe anything could have been set at that college campus... Can you tell I'm overthinking just a bit? Let me know your theories/ideas for who wrote what episode! Did I miss anything obvious?
