1801 - Frank Marries a Corpse

Written by: Charlie Day

Directed by: Todd Biermann

Airing as Episode 1 on August 17, 2026 at 9pm EST

Synopsis: The guys help Frank with his cold feet ahead of his wedding to Sam. Dee tries to scare Sam off the nuptials with testimonies from The Waitress, Artemis, and Snail.

What we know:

  • This episode was, at least in part, filmed February 11th through February 14th on the Fox Lot, and contains some of the first scenes filmed!
  • The Season trailer revealed many moments from this episode, most notably the actual wedding, which takes place in Paddy's and features a (seemingly) dead Samantha:

  • The first scene is set in Mac and Dennis' apartment:
  • A scene from the Season trailer takes place in Mac and Dennis' apartment, where the same champagne bottles and glasses from the slate photo are visible:
  • The Guys wear tuxes for the event:
Rob posted this as a recreation of a scene from "Underage Drinking"

  • Mac also acts as a priest at the wedding:
  • And Dee (along with Artemis, Snail, and the Waitress) act as bridesmaids:
  • This is what we originally dubbed the "puppet plot" episode and, accordingly, includes Uncle Jack and Ms. Mac as side characters:
Note the slate shows this as Scene 8
  • Uncle Jack is seen in the Season trailer with Mac and Dennis in this scene, as well as with Dee and Samantha in Dee's apartment:
  • Mac and Dennis, in tuxes, have a scene on what appears to be a rooftop:
  • Dennis and Charlie are also on the rooftop, but dressed in all-black attire:

Possibilities/Questions:

  • Charlie has an urn in his possession in most of the trailer clips for this episode. It is extremely likely it contains the ashes of his mom, Bonnie Kelly:
  • It is interesting Dee is stated to be against the marriage while the guys are stated to be for it, given how everyone felt in Season 17s finale, The Golden Bachelor Live. It is possible everyone is scheming against this marriage.
